Forgot to screen shot and save the codes before I cleared them, so snapped this quickly as it was clearing them.“I know there’s good, and there’s evil, because I learned it from you.” Got it home and parked it, hooked it up to ISTA and pulled the following codes. As a side note, I drove 3 miles with white smoke billowing out at the stop signs before the "increased emissions" warning came up. Probably should have parked it there, but it is what it is. Started thinking of all the possibilities, head spinning as I try and figure the shortest, slowest route back to the house about 5 miles away. Car starts smoking and smells awful as it drops into limp mode. Apparently, the M heard me talking yesterday and decided to test my patience.ĭriving along this afternoon, downshifted to first for a slow turn and as I accelerated off, heard a few loud pops (exhaust cutouts really enhance that effect, I assure you) and felt a few misfires. I like my pie, especially of the humble variety. Torque is how far you move the wall when you hit it. Oversteer is when you hit the wall with your back end. Normally (I'm kind of twisted like this) I would be, but the timing really sucks as I had just cleared the cars out of the garage and pulled everything out of the attic to organize and purge and my free time is coming to an end in 4 days.Īny advice and experience appreciated, I haven't done any major engine work in 20 years and then only on race bikes and SBCs. I have a lead on one with extremely low usage to minimize the monetary pain :3: It would have really sucked to do it twice. Kind of glad I didn't do that last week as planned. pull oil pan, inspect, and swap rod bearings. drain oil and tear open oil filter for inspection boroscope the cylinders and look for signs of damage to the walls remove all interference to get plugs out (plenums, air boxes, etc) Pushed her into the gagrage, disconnected the battery, and will start disassembly tomorrow. only misfired at idle since the DME ramps up fuel rail pressure proportional to torque demand (throttle input). the other cylinders misfired since rail pressure was too low for a proper fill during the injector "on phase" May be a SWAG, but since it never "misfired", it may be the culprit.

I pulled the codes again and the only one that returned (since the car didn't start) was the 27CF fuel pressure.

Tried to start the car and the engine turned over about 2 times before it stopped and about 2 seconds later I could hear the starter solenoid drop out. Anyways, I don't think it's related, but time will tell as I get into this.

I believe it may be related to the accumulator leaking down as I can start the engine, immediately shut it off before anything warms up, clear the code and restart without triggering it. Happens occasionally on startup, has since I got it, but only when cold outside. So, the VANOS low pressure code and bank 1 error happened earlier a few mornings ago when I left the car out of the garage overnight.
